What to do if the flowers don't grow or die?

What to do if the flowers don't grow or die?

1. Causes of seedling stagnation

1. Soil compaction: When the soil becomes hard and compacted, the roots cannot breathe well and water accumulates in the pot, causing the roots to be hypoxic, leading to root rot and seedling stunting.

2. Excessive watering: Newly transplanted flowers have not yet grown new roots in the soil. If you water too much at this time, the soil in the pot will be too wet, which will easily cause the roots to age, deteriorate, and become dead.

3. Excessive fertilization: Newly transplanted flowers have weak absorption capacity and are more sensitive to fertilizer and water. If improper fertilizer is applied at this time, the roots will not be able to bear the burden, causing root damage and forming dead seedlings.

4. Poor quality of seedlings : If the transplanted seedlings are too old or too young, or if the roots are damaged during transplanting or the seedlings are not hardened in advance, it will also cause stiff seedlings.

5. Inappropriate timing for transplanting: If the transplanting encounters severe weather such as low temperature damage or continuous high temperature, it will also affect the growth and development of the seedlings and cause stunted seedlings.

II. Solutions

1. Repotting: Dig the flowers out of the original pots, remove the old soil and rotten roots, and then soak them in disinfectant for about 3-5 hours. Afterwards, it is best to soak the new pot in water for a day before using it, spread a layer of gravel on the bottom of the new pot, and then choose breathable, well-drained, humus-rich soil for replanting.

2. Pour wine: Pour white wine into the potted plants with dead seedlings to restore their growth. Pour white wine into the soil close to the roots, being careful not to splash the wine onto the plant. The amount of wine should not be too large, and pour it once every 5 days or so. Generally speaking, it can be restored in about 10 days. This method is best used after Qingming Festival and before late autumn.
