How and when to plant outdoor eggplants?

Suitable time for planting eggplant in the open air

Eggplant is usually grown in two ways: open-air cultivation and greenhouse cultivation, but open-air cultivation is still the main method. If it is planted in early spring, it is generally necessary to start sowing in December of the previous year, start transplanting in February of the following year, and harvest in April.

Methods and key points of outdoor eggplant planting

1. Planting soil

The first step in planting open-air eggplant is to choose soil suitable for its growth. It is suitable for growing in soil that is rich in organic matter, loose and fertile. Therefore, open-air eggplant can be planted in sandy loam. The soil needs to be renovated before planting.

2. Germination treatment

Open-air eggplants need to be germinated before planting. Select seeds with full and healthy particles, then soak them in disinfectant solution for five minutes. Take them out and place them in water at room temperature. Wait until most of the seeds turn white before taking them out and using them.

3. Planting

When planting open-air eggplants, just sow the seeds evenly in the soil and cover the surface with a layer of fine soil. After sowing, you can water the soil with river water to soak it, and then cover the outer layer with plastic film to help the seeds germinate as soon as possible.

Key points for daily management of open-air eggplant

There are many common diseases and pests of open-air eggplants. In order to obtain better yields, you must pay attention to prevention and control, apply sufficient base fertilizer to the plants, plant with a reasonable density, drain excess water in time, reduce the humidity around the field, and remove diseased leaves in time to prevent diseases and pests.
