How to plant sugarcane and when to plant it

How to plant sugarcane and when to plant it

1. Planting time

It is usually planted in spring from February to April, and no later than April. However, some areas also choose to plant in autumn, specifically between August and September. It should not be too early or too late. The most suitable time is late August, otherwise the temperature drop will be unfavorable for germination.

2. Planting Method

1. Select sugarcane buds: Most of its cultivation is carried out with sugarcane buds. Choose those with many tail buds, which are long and relatively strong. This way, they are more cold-resistant, can germinate faster, and have a higher yield.

2. Site selection: Choose a site with convenient drainage and preferably loose and fertile soil. You can plow the land first, then spread an appropriate amount of fertilizer before planting. Only with sufficient nutrients can the plants grow better.

3. Planting sugarcane sprouts: Once the soil is prepared, they can be planted. The method is very simple, just plant it directly. Be careful not to cover the soil too thickly. Make sure it gets enough light so that new roots and new shoots will grow soon.

4. Post-management: Management after planting is very important. Fertilization should be done in time, and appropriate amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers should be applied. It is best to do it together with watering to dilute the fertilizer as quickly as possible so that it can be more easily absorbed. When the sugarcane sprouts grow to about one meter, they should be fertilized every half a month and ensure that they have enough water. This way, they will grow quickly and vigorously.
