Taboos of cultivating Amaryllis in winter

Characteristics of plants

Let’s get to know it better first so that we can know what it likes and dislikes in winter. First of all, it likes warm weather and has certain requirements for wintering temperatures. Generally speaking, the most preferred temperature range is between ten and twelve degrees Celsius, and the lowest cannot be lower than five degrees. In addition, although it likes moisture, we all know that plants will enter a dormant state in winter, so they require very little water, so water must not accumulate. In addition, light also affects the growth and flowering state of plants.

. Therefore, we must also provide enough sunlight in winter.

Taboos

Excessive watering: The plant is in a dormant period in winter. If you give it too much water at this time, the plant may continue to grow and break its normal dormancy, and its flowering in the second year will be affected. Moreover, if the humidity is too high in winter, the flower buds in the bulbs will easily rot, and the plant may not bloom the following year.

The temperature is too low: As mentioned above, the temperature cannot be less than 5℃. Therefore, friends who plant in areas with low temperatures must be careful. If you want to be safe, it is best not to let the plants overwinter outdoors.

No pruning: This applies to areas south of the Yangtze River. Because the temperature in this area is not very low in winter, you can spend the winter outside. However, it also requires certain processing. We have to cut off the leaves when winter is approaching so that it can survive the winter.

Insufficient light: Sufficient sunlight is an important measure to help it survive the winter normally. Whether you spend the winter outdoors or indoors, the factor of light cannot be ignored.
