Things to note when breeding red spider lilies. Can red spider lilies breed automatically?

1. Seed propagation

When sowing and propagating red spider lilies, you should pay attention to the time. Generally, it is chosen in spring or autumn. The climate in these two seasons is suitable, and the flowers can take root and sprout quickly after planting. If planted in summer and winter, the seeds are difficult to grow and usually have to wait until spring and autumn to germinate. When sowing bulbs, pay attention to the depth, so that the small buds on the bulbs are slightly exposed above the ground. In addition, if you plant multiple plants in one pot, you need to be careful to keep the distance between them.

2. Bulb propagation

The time for dividing the bulbs of Red Spider Lily is just the opposite of sowing, and it is usually done during the dormant period, so as not to delay the development of the bulblets. Be careful when dividing the balls so as not to damage the mother ball or the daughter balls and ensure that the roots are intact. After dividing the bulbs, plant the bulblets in moist sandy soil with the top buds slightly exposed. Keep the soil in the pot moist and wait for it to grow into a new plant.

3. Scale cutting propagation

When propagating by bulb cutting, pay attention to the depth of the cutting, which is generally between one-half and two-thirds of the length of the bulb. After cutting, place it in a cool place to dry, then prepare moist sand and perlite as a substrate and insert it into it. Adventitious buds will grow in about 3 months, and then bulbs will be produced, which can be divided and planted.

4. Can it reproduce automatically?

Red spider lily can reproduce automatically. It is self-pollinating, and can complete pollination and produce seeds with just a little wind. When the seeds mature and fall into the soil, they can germinate. It should be noted that automatic reproduction is very easy in the wild, but it is somewhat difficult at home. Certain auxiliary means are needed to complete the process of pollination and sowing.
