What to do if okra does not bear fruit? How to make okra bear fruit

1. Increase lighting

Insufficient light is the main reason why okra cannot bloom and bear fruit. It has a high demand for light, and generally requires all-day light to allow it to grow healthily. If the environment is too dark, the plant may grow too tall. Not only will it fail to bloom, but it will also fall over if it grows too tall, and it will also be unable to photosynthesize, which is not conducive to the growth of the plant.

2. Supplement nutrients

During the growth of okra, fertilizer must be supplied in sufficient quantities because flowering and fruiting require a large amount of nutrients. When planting, the soil must be deeply tilled and base fertilizer applied before sowing. After the seeds germinate, apply fertilizer to ensure the growth of the seedlings. When transplanting, apply fertilizer to promote the growth of the seedlings. Apply fertilizer again during the flowering and fruiting period to provide sufficient nutrients.

3. Increase the temperature

Okra prefers warm climate and has low tolerance to low temperatures. The temperature should generally not be lower than 17℃, otherwise it will affect its development and lead to reduced production. Usually the temperature should be kept between 25-30℃ so that the plants can grow normally and bloom more easily. Fortunately, as an annual plant, it does not need to worry about overwintering.

4. Improve the soil

Soil is the basis for okra growth, and bad soil will naturally affect the yield. If you want to increase production, you must first create a good growing environment. Generally, loose and fertile soil is selected for planting. If it is potted, the soil must be changed every year, otherwise the soil will easily become hardened and affect the breathing of the roots. If you plant in the ground, you should deep plow before planting to kill the larvae in the soil.
