How long after the dragon fruit is cut can it be watered, and how long does it take for the cuttings to bear fruit?

How long after the dragon fruit is cut can it be watered, and how long does it take for the cuttings to bear fruit?

1. How often to water

After transplanting the dragon fruit, don't rush to water it. The soil should be in a dry state. Watering can only be done after about 10 days. If you water it right away, the stems are likely to rot. When watering for the first time, be careful not to water too much and remember not to allow excess moisture to appear in the substrate.

2. How long does it take to get results?

If properly cared for after cuttings, it will bear fruit in 8-10 months. Generally, it will start to bear fruit in the second year. Of course, sometimes if the cuttings are taken care of at the right time and well maintained, they may bear fruit in about 5 months. After cuttings, the temperature needs to be adjusted to around 20℃ and it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. In the later stage, watering is required in time. It will usually germinate within a month.

3. Cutting Techniques

1. In the spring, cut a section of stem with good growth from the dragon fruit plant. There should be no signs of disease or insect infestation on it. The cut at the lower end should be smooth, then dip it in an appropriate amount of wood ash or use potassium permanganate for disinfection.

2. Prepare the substrate to be used for cuttings. The soil should be breathable and clean, and also disinfected, otherwise there will be residual bacteria in it that will affect the normal rooting of the cuttings. Finally, insert the disinfected stems and branches into the soil, ensure the temperature is suitable, and be careful not to be exposed to the sun. Wait for about a month and new roots will grow.
