Cultivation methods and precautions of European hydrangea

European hydrangea is a shrub of the Caprifoliaceae family. This plant is very easy to grow in the Yangtze River basin, especially in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, and its maintenance method is not difficult.

How to grow European hydrangea

1. Soil

European hydrangea prefers loose, fertile, well-drained soil, and does not have high requirements for pH. It can usually be prepared with garden soil, leaf mold, and vinegar residue.

2. Lighting

European hydrangea is a long-day plant. It is recommended to place it on a sunny windowsill for maintenance. The light exposure time can be appropriately increased during the flowering period, and a shade shed needs to be built in summer.

3. Fertilization

After flowering, European hydrangea has a great demand for nutrients, so it is necessary to apply long-acting compound fertilizer once every half a month to increase nutrition during the flowering period.

4. Watering

European hydrangea likes a humid growing environment and usually has a large water demand. It needs to be watered every 2-3 days during the growing period. And it is not enough to just water the soil, the leaves should also be sprayed with water appropriately.

European hydrangea maintenance precautions

European hydrangea should never be pruned before flowering. Generally, it can be pruned after flowering, which is in late spring. At other times, just cut off diseased leaves and branches, otherwise it may affect flowering.
