What is the best medicine for wheat stripe blight?

Wheat sheath blight is a worldwide disease with a wide distribution range, which is found in almost all temperate wheat-growing areas in the world. Since the discovery of wheat sheath blight in China in 1973, the occurrence and harm of wheat sheath blight have been increasing year by year. So what is the best medicine for wheat sheath blight? Let’s take a look below.

1. Distribution of Sheath Blight

Before the 1970s, wheat sheath blight occurred sporadically in some wheat-growing areas of my country, but the disease was mild and the losses to wheat yields were small. With the replacement of wheat varieties and the promotion of high-yield cultivation measures such as dense planting, early sowing and high fertilizer, the disease has occurred in the Yangtze River Basin and the Huangzhu Plain in my country, especially in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Shandong, Shaanxi, Hubei and other provinces, where it is widespread and the damage is serious.

2. The incidence of sheath blight

The sclerotia or hyphae of the pathogen oversummer or overwinter on the remains of damaged plants or in the soil, becoming the main source of initial infection. New lesions on the affected plants can grow hyphae, extend out of the host surface, and spread to neighboring wheat plants for re-infection. The disease is more severe when winter wheat is sown too early and too densely, when wheat seedlings grow too vigorously before winter or when too much nitrogen fertilizer is used, when wheat seedlings grow too long, or when wheat fields suffer from low temperatures and cold weather, lack of fertilizer, or too much water in the spring. Warm autumn and winter, rainy and humid weather in the following spring, the application of uncomposted manure with diseased residues, and acidic soil are all conducive to the disease.

3. What is the best medicine for wheat stripe blight?

1. For wheat fields with white ears before wheat harvest, combine with land preparation before planting wheat, use 1kg of 80% carbendazim wettable powder or 1.5kg of 50% carbendazim wettable powder per mu, mix with 10-15kg of fine powder, and spread evenly in the field to effectively prevent and control the occurrence of wheat stripe blight, and at the same time treat wheat take-all disease and root rot.

2. If wheat stripe blight is found in the wheat field during the wheat seedling stage, you can use 300 times diluted 5% jinggangmycin aqueous solution or 600 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable powder. Remove the nozzle of the sprayer and spray the liquid onto the base of the wheat stem. The amount of liquid used per mu should be at least 45~60kg. For the spread of wheat stripe blast that has already occurred, chemical prevention and control can be carried out by spraying oxathiocarb-butyl fluopicolide suspension and oxathiocarb-butyl thiophanate-methyl once every 5-7 days, at least twice.

3. Conduct field surveys in time after wheat turns green. For fields affected by sheath blight, continue to use 300 times diluted 5% jinggangmycin aqueous solution + 5000 times diluted 1.5% sodium nitrophenolate aqueous solution (Aidushou) or 600 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable powder + 5000 times diluted 1.5% sodium nitrophenolate aqueous solution (Aidushou) to spray plants and stem bases, which can effectively prevent and control wheat sheath blight and strengthen seedlings.
