Vegetable planting management guide in December

Vegetable planting management guide in December

In December, as the temperature gradually dropped, agricultural production entered winter management mode. For vegetable planting, management in this month is crucial, as it not only ensures the smooth wintering of vegetables, but also lays the foundation for a good harvest next year. The following is a sharing of the vegetable planting and management guidelines for December.

1. Strengthen the greenhouse

Before and after winter, strengthen the inspection and maintenance of facilities such as the frame, walls, and access passages of the solar greenhouse. In particular, old greenhouses and greenhouses with weak resistance to wind and snow pressure should be maintained and reinforced as soon as possible.

2. Speed up sowing

Take advantage of favorable climate to speed up the sowing progress, and transfer and transplant the plants in time to ensure the supply of vegetables in the spring of next year. Seedlings need to be raised for spring sowing of eggplant and fruit vegetables. If the number of seedlings is insufficient, a hotbed can be used to raise seedlings and continue sowing.

3. Cover and keep warm

Use plastic film, straw and other covering materials to keep warm, especially when the temperature is lower at night, to ensure that the temperature in the greenhouse is above 15°C at night. If necessary, temporary heating can be provided by using high-pressure sodium lamps, hot air furnaces, heating fans, combustion heating blocks, etc.

4. Lighting management

In case of continuous rainy and snowy weather, the thermal insulation covering can be rolled up for a short time when there is no rain or snow during the day to improve the photosynthetic efficiency of the plants. If the weather is cloudy for a long time and then sunny, put down some insulation covering around noon to prevent the plants from losing water and wilting.

5. Humidity management

Reasonably control the indoor air humidity to prevent diseases caused by excessive humidity. After the insulation blanket is rolled up, it can be ventilated and dehumidified for a short period of time, not exceeding 20 minutes. Around noon, ventilate appropriately according to the growth status of crops and temperature and humidity conditions.

6. Deep tillage and loosening of soil

Deeply plow the soil, generally to a depth of 20-30 cm, to loosen the soil and facilitate root growth.

7. Reasonable fertilization

According to the growth of vegetables, apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers in a timely manner, with an application rate of about 10-15 kilograms per mu.

8. Pest and disease control

Do a good job of cleaning the garden, reduce the number of pests and diseases, and use physical methods such as yellow sticky boards and blue boards to lure and kill pests. When necessary, use low-toxic and high-efficiency chemical pesticides for spray control, and be careful to use them strictly according to the instructions.

In general, the above management measures can effectively ensure the healthy growth of vegetables in December, so that they can be well supplied to the winter and spring markets and earn huge profits.
