Why does Kalanchoe not bloom after forming buds (How to care for Kalanchoe during the bud period so that it can bloom)

Reason 1: Insufficient light causes no flower buds

Although Kalanchoe is not very demanding in terms of light and can be grown in a semi-shaded environment or indoors, plants do need to photosynthesize after all.

Kalanchoe cannot accept direct sunlight in summer. After autumn, it needs to be gradually exposed to more sunlight. This is conducive to the accumulation of nutrients, so that flower buds can grow and bloom smoothly.

Solution

If the lack of flower buds is caused by insufficient light, it can be easily solved. In autumn and winter, you can place the Kalanchoe under a sunny window or on a balcony to allow the Kalanchoe to get more sunlight, which is conducive to flowering.

Reason 2: Insufficient nutrition, no flower buds

Kalanchoe needs sufficient nutrition to grow. If there is insufficient nutrition, flower buds will not grow.

There are two aspects of nutrient deficiency. One is that the nutrient deficiency is caused by long-term lack of fertilizer. Another situation is that the branches and leaves grow well but no flower buds grow after fertilization. This situation is caused by unbalanced fertilization. Nitrogen fertilizer promotes the growth of branches and leaves, while phosphorus and potassium promote flowering.

Solution

If it is caused by insufficient fertilization, it is necessary to supplement fertilizer in time. Fertilization should ensure that all fertilizers are balanced, and not just one type of fertilizer. In autumn and winter, you can apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, which can promote flower bud differentiation. Using potassium dihydrogen phosphate 1-2 times a month has a good effect.

Reason three: The temperature is not suitable and the flower buds do not grow

Kalanchoe likes temperature, and the most suitable growth temperature is 15-20 degrees. Too high or too low temperature is not conducive to the growth of Kalanchoe .

The temperature for flowering should be controlled at around 20 degrees. If it is a cold area in the north, the temperature will be too low in winter and it will not bloom. It will have to wait until spring to bloom.

Solution

After winter, we should pay close attention to weather changes. When the temperature drops below 10 degrees, we should keep warm indoors in time. The wintering temperature should be controlled at 10-15 degrees, which is conducive to the flowering of Kalanchoe .
