1. Prepare the containerIf you want to hydroponically grow pennywort, you must first find a suitable container. It doesn’t matter whether the container is transparent or not, but the diameter cannot be too small. Since it is easy to burst the pot, you will have to change it soon if you use a small pot. However, if the pot diameter is too large and the plant is too loose, it will not be easy to fix it. In addition, pay attention to the depth of the container. If it is too shallow, the roots will not be able to grow. 2. Remove from the pot and wash the rootsGenerally, the pennyworts we buy are grown in soil, so you need to remove the plant from the pot before switching to hydroponics. Take the roots and soil ball out of the pot, place them in a container of clean water, let the soil on top fall off gradually, and then wash it properly. After cleaning, you can also trim it appropriately, cut off the old and dead roots, and place it in a ventilated place to dry. 3. Pour water into the basinPlace the washed roots of the pennywort upright in the prepared container and pour an appropriate amount of clean water into it, making sure its lower part is immersed in water. Because the plant is relatively soft and difficult to shape, it needs to be pressed down with pebbles to prevent the plant from falling over. 4. Subsequent maintenanceThe pennywort should not be exposed to direct sunlight and needs to be placed in semi-shade to receive scattered light. The water should be changed regularly to prevent bacteria from breeding and causing various diseases due to deterioration of water quality. In order to make the plant grow better, you can regularly drop a few drops of nutrient solution to supplement it with nutrients. |
