How to take care of newly bought rue

How to take care of newly bought rue

1. Get more sun

Although rueba looks like a flower, it is actually a kind of succulent that requires a lot of light. So after you buy it home, you should place the rudbeckia on a south-facing balcony or windowsill and let it get as much sunlight as possible. The better the light, the more flowers it will bloom.

2. Water less

As a succulent plant, the Lophatherum vulgare is quite drought-resistant. During the growing season in spring and autumn, you can usually water it thoroughly when the surface of the potting soil turns white and the soil becomes light. During the high temperature period in summer and the low temperature period in winter, you should water less and keep the soil in the pot dry to help the plants safely survive the summer and winter.

3. Moderate temperature

The temperature is low in winter, so you need to move the leuconostoc indoors and keep the maintenance temperature above 5℃ so that it can safely overwinter. If the temperature is low, control the water appropriately. When the temperature is highest at noon, pour some room temperature water along the edge of the pot.

4. Soil Breathability

Rosemary likes sandy soil with good drainage, ventilation and sufficient nutrients. We can replace the potting soil every spring as the plant grows. Choose pine needle soil or peat soil, mix it with some coarse sand and perlite, and bury a few grains of slow-release fertilizer as base fertilizer.

5. Fertilize frequently

In addition to burying slow-release fertilizer as base fertilizer, during the peak growth season of the plant, you can also water it with balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer every half a month to promote plant growth. Before flowering, use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote more flowering.

6. Pruning after flower withering

With proper care, the leuconostoc will bloom in spring and autumn every year. After each flower withers, cut off the remaining flowers and flower stems in time to avoid excessive consumption of nutrients. After pruning, add some nutritionally balanced fertilizer and water to promote its renewal and rejuvenation.
