When is the Phalaenopsis flower blooming period? Can fertilizer be applied during the Phalaenopsis flower blooming period?

When is the Phalaenopsis flower blooming period? Can fertilizer be applied during the Phalaenopsis flower blooming period?

1. When is the flowering period?

The flowering period of Phalaenopsis is between April and June every year, and normally lasts for two or three months. However, if the plant is well maintained and properly pruned after the flowers fade, the flowering period can be extended. The specific pruning method is to cut off the fourth or fifth nodes at the base of the flower stem, and provide a suitable environment later so that it can bloom again after two or three months. This also has disadvantages, the quality of flowers will decline next year.

2. Can I apply fertilizer during the flowering period?

It likes fertilizer and needs to be fertilized regularly during management. It can only bloom normally if it has sufficient nutrients. Generally, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied before flowering, and thin fertilizers should be applied frequently. However, once the flowers bloom, you must stop fertilizing, otherwise the plant will absorb fertilizer slowly, which can easily lead to root burn and premature flower drop. Therefore, it is recommended to apply it before and after flowering to stop the flowering period.

3. How to care during flowering period

1. Temperature: It has high requirements for temperature, and the flowering period must be well controlled. It is recommended to maintain the temperature between 23-25 degrees during the day and between 15-18 degrees at night. Such a temperature difference environment can better nurture flower buds. Neither too high nor too low is good. Too high will cause the flowers to fall prematurely, while too low will cause frostbite on the flower buds.

2. Water: The water requirement during the flowering period is not high, so the frequency and amount should be reduced appropriately. Before watering, you can test it with your hand, just make sure it is slightly moist. The soil should not be too moist nor too dry. If it is too wet, the roots will rot easily; if it is too dry, the flower color will fade and the flowering period will end prematurely.
