How to grow Margarite flowers

How to grow Margarite flowers

1. Seeding and cutting

When we plant margarite flowers, we either sow seeds or take cuttings, or buy seedlings that have already been taken cuttings. No matter which method we use, we can transplant them when the margarite seedlings grow to 5 cm in height or when the cuttings survive.

2. Transplanting to pots

When transplanting, prepare a small flowerpot, fill it with nutrient soil, mix a handful of organic fertilizer or controlled-release fertilizer at the bottom of the soil, and then add a layer of fertilizer-free soil. Transplant the Margarite seedling with the soil into the small flowerpot, water it thoroughly, and place it in a well-ventilated place with diffused light to slow down the potting process.

3. Pruning and topping

After a week, let the marigold bask in the sun, observe the soil surface turning white and then water it thoroughly. When the seedlings grow to 8 cm in height, top them, pinch off the top 2 cm of leaves of the plant, and keep 6 cm of stems and leaves (about 8 leaves). Continue to top them when the branches grow to 8 cm in length.

4. Apply thin fertilizer frequently

After topping 3-4 times, the marigold will grow into a spherical shape. During this period, it is necessary to water it with a balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer every half a month. The concentration should be light. After the marigold grows into a spherical shape, stop topping and continue to apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers until it blooms.

5. Maintenance Note

When caring for Margaret, except for shading during the period of acclimatization, it should be exposed to more sunlight at other times. When the weight of the soil in the pot feels noticeably lighter, water it thoroughly. Fertilize before and after flowering, and do not fertilize during flowering. Spray the flower protector once every half a month to prevent pests.
