How to change the soil of roses

When to change the soil of roses

You can change the soil for roses in spring, summer and autumn, especially in spring or autumn, which is more conducive to the plants adapting to the new environment. Don't rush to water after changing the soil.

It is not suitable to repot roses in the summer because the temperature is very high and the plants may not grow well after repotting. However, if water accumulates in the soil, causing the roots to rot, the roses need to be repotted immediately, even in summer.

When should roses be transplanted?

The time to change the soil and transplant roses is generally after the leaves fall in late autumn or in early to mid-April in spring. The temperature at this time is suitable, which can help it adapt to the pot quickly.

How to change the soil and pot of rose

1. For roses planted in yellow soil, you can use a tap to directly remove 2/3 of the soil, leaving a little heart soil. If the roots are rotten, trim the roots and then plant them in new soil.

2. Roses can use loose and fertile soil. You can use nutrient soil and garden soil with more nutrients, and then supplement it with coarse coconut shells and coconut bran with good water retention. You can also use some coarse-grained substances. Generally, you can use coarse coconut shells, coconut bran and nutrient soil, or use garden soil plus coconut bran and perlite.

3. Choose a suitable pot, don't choose one that is too big. You can choose one of the same size as before. Because the roots are exposed, wash away the original soil and directly plant it with new loose and breathable soil. After planting, water it thoroughly and add some rooting liquid and carbendazim to encourage it to grow new roots quickly.

Notes on changing the soil of roses

1. When changing the soil for roses, do not damage its healthy roots. However, the rotten and withered roots need to be cut off because these roots will affect the growth of other roots.

2. It is best to disinfect it after pruning to prevent bacteria from growing in the root system. The newly prepared soil should be clean. It is best to disinfect it before potting.
