How to grow Gloxinia flowers

How to grow Gloxinia flowers

1. Soil

It likes to grow in a loose, air-permeable and nutrient-rich soil environment. When cultivating, it is recommended to use sandy soil, garden soil and leaf mold to prepare the soil. If conditions permit, it is best to add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to increase nutrients so that the plant can grow vigorously in the later stage.

2. Lighting

It likes sunlight. It will only bloom if it is given enough light, and the color of the flowers will be brighter. After dealing with the strong sunlight in summer, you can place it in a well-lit place. Shade it in summer or avoid it in time, otherwise it is easy to get sunburned.

3. Watering

Be sure to water it in moderation, not too frequently and do not let the soil be too dry, otherwise yellow leaves will easily appear. The amount of water should be increased when the temperature is high, and water should be sprinkled frequently to increase the humidity. When the temperatures drop in winter, try to keep the soil dry and don't water it unless it's dry. In addition, be careful not to get exposed to rain during the flowering period and take shelter from the rain.

4. Fertilization

Fertilization should be done frequently from the time leaves unfold in spring to before flowering, and a thin layer of fertilizer should be applied about once every half a month. After flower buds grow, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added in time to promote the differentiation of flower buds. Be careful not to let the leaves get fertilized, and spray water appropriately after applying the fertilizer to dilute the fertilizer as soon as possible to help the plant absorb it.
