How to deal with hyacinth after it blooms and how to save seeds

1. How to deal with hyacinth after it blooms

1. Planting: For hydroponic hyacinths, the bulbs will usually dry up and nothing will be left after they bloom. Unless your hyacinth bulbs are large, you can cut off the flower branches after the flowers fade, trim the roots of the bulbs, and bury the bulbs in the soil with the leaves after they are dried, so that the bulbs are not exposed to the soil. For hyacinths grown in soil, just cut off the branches after the flowers fade.

2. Bulb cultivation: Hyacinths with leaves should be placed in a place with diffused light and good ventilation. After they are potted, they should be exposed to more sunlight. Usually, observe the soil 2 cm below the surface and water it thoroughly when it is dry. Also, irrigate it with compound fertilizer and water every half a month. The purpose is to nourish the bulbs.

3. Bulbing: After the stems and leaves on the ground of hyacinth are completely withered, dig out the bulbs, cut off the dry stems and leaves and roots, place the bulbs in a cool place to dry for 3 days, then wrap the bulbs with newspapers and store them in a cool and ventilated place.

4. Planting: Wait until the autumn and winter when the roots of the hyacinth bulbs show signs of germination, then plant the bulbs in the soil. Remember to bury the bulbs deeply, and apply cake fertilizer and bone meal at the bottom of the pot. The mother bulbs planted again can bloom for at least two years.

2. How to save seeds after hyacinth blooms

In addition to timely pruning and maintaining the bulbs after the hyacinth flowers fade, you can also keep the seeds. Usually after the hyacinth blooms, as long as the maintenance environment is ventilated, the plant will produce seeds on the branches after the flowers fade. After the seeds are mature, they can be propagated by sowing and can grow into flowering bulbs after 5-7 years of maintenance.
