When to plant open-field loofah

The best time to plant open-field loofah is the end of April or mid-May, when the temperature is just right and the breeze is not dry. Open-field loofah is usually planted by sowing, and it is best not to plant it later than October.

Planting time in the north and south : There are differences in the time suitable for planting open-field loofah in the south and the north. It can be planted all year round in the south, while it is more suitable to plant in the winter and spring in the north.

Greenhouse planting time : Open-field loofah can be planted in a greenhouse. There is a difference between the time for greenhouse planting and the time for open-air planting. Loofah can be planted in a greenhouse all year round, which has more advantages than open-field loofah.

Origin and planting month of open-field loofah

Open-field loofah is widely grown in various parts of my country, and common producing areas include Hebei, Gansu, Jiangsu, Fujian and other regions.

Hebei open field loofah

Hebei outdoor loofah is usually planted in March and matures in May. Hebei loofah is of moderate size, has no wrinkles on the surface, and is tender and plump.

Jiangsu open field loofah

Jiangsu open-field loofah is usually planted in spring and autumn and harvested in summer. The lighter the color of Jiangsu open-field loofah, the more tender it is, and the darker the color, the better.

Open-field loofah varieties and planting months

There are three common varieties of outdoor loofah, namely, club loofah, thread loofah, and angular loofah.

Bangchui open-field loofah

The outdoor field loofah with a mallet is usually planted in April and May and can be harvested twice a year. The flesh of the loofah with a mallet is thick, white-green, tender and of medium quality.

Thread loofah outdoor loofah

Thread loofah can be planted in three seasons, and its maturity period is summer, autumn and winter respectively. The flesh of thread loofah is green and white, tender, less fiber and of good quality.
