How to deal with yellowing leaves of Mo Lan

How to deal with yellowing leaves of Mo Lan

Reason 1

Overwatering

Be careful when watering Mo Lan. Do not water too much at once. The water cannot be absorbed by the soil, which can easily lead to root rot. If the roots are rotten, the leaves will gradually turn yellow, and even the whole plant may die. In addition, the watering method must also be appropriate. Many times we are used to watering from the top, which can easily cause water to flow into the tender shoots and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

The Right Way

In winter and spring, it is best to water the plant around sunrise, and also spray to increase air humidity to facilitate the growth of the moria.

In summer and autumn, it is best for the leaves to be dry around sunset and before nightfall.

When the surface of the substrate is dry, water it as soon as possible, and do not let it dry for too long. And the watering method should be correct, it is better to water along the edge of the pot.

Reason 2

Overfertilization

The growth of Mo Lan does not require much fertilizer. If you apply fertilizer frequently for a long time, the soil in the pot will be over-nourished, and over time, the leaves will turn yellow.

The Right Way

Fertilization should be moderate, not too much. Fertilize once a week during the growing period. In autumn and winter, Mo Lan grows slowly, so fertilize once every 20 days. Do not pour fertilizer on the leaves when fertilizing. After fertilizing, pour a small amount of clean water to wash away the residual fertilizer in the soil.

Fertilization must be done in the evening on a sunny day. Fertilization on a cloudy day will cause the roots to rot.

Reason 3

Temperature is too low

If it is winter, the leaves of Mo Lan turn yellow, mostly because of low temperatures and freezing, especially below zero temperatures.

The Right Way

Pay attention to the frost protection of Mo Lan and do not place it outdoors in winter.

The most suitable temperature for the growth of Mo Lan is 18℃~28℃. In winter, when the temperature is below 10℃, it grows slowly and goes dormant. However, the temperature in winter cannot be too high. If it is higher than 25℃, it will affect the dormancy of Mo Lan and affect its growth the following year.

Reason 4

Insufficient light

Too much light can easily burn the leaves and cause sunburn.

Excessive shading or keeping the orchid indoors for a long time will affect the photosynthesis of the orchid, causing the leaves to turn yellow, poor growth and difficulty in flowering.

The Right Way

More sunlight, especially the morning light before 9 a.m., is very beneficial to the growth and flowering of orchids.

There should be 40%-50% shade on sunny days in winter and spring, and 80%-90% shade on sunny days in summer and autumn.

Reason 5

Pests and diseases

Mo Lan prefers a relatively humid growing environment, but poor ventilation and high humidity make it prone to ink spot disease and fungal diseases. If Mo Lan is sick, the leaves will turn yellow, and Mo Lan has many diseases.

The Right Way

Remove diseased plants, increase ventilation and reduce humidity.

Spray fungicides in time, once every half month, for 3 consecutive times.
