Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Phalaenopsis

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Phalaenopsis

1. Excessive watering

1. Reason: Phalaenopsis likes moisture, but cannot grow for a long time in a substrate that is too moist or contains stagnant water. Because stagnant water will rot its roots and affect its normal growth. If you water it too much during maintenance, it may cause root rot and yellow leaves.

2. Treatment method: First take the plant out of the waterlogged substrate and cut off the rotten roots at the bottom with scissors. Then treat its roots with disinfectant, place it in a well-ventilated place to dry, and plant it in a new substrate with good permeability.

2. Too much light

1. Reason: It prefers mild sunlight and cannot be exposed to the scorching sun for a long time. Otherwise, its leaves will be burned by strong light and turn yellow and dry.

2. Treatment method: First move the flower pot to a semi-shaded environment, cut off the leaves that have turned completely yellow, and keep it warm and ventilated. It will soon begin to grow new leaves.

3. Nutritional deficiencies

1. Reason: If the fertility of the substrate in which it is planted is very low, and if it is not fertilized in time to provide it with nutrients, it may also have yellow leaves.

2. Treatment method: First remove the plant from the pot and plant it in a substrate with higher fertility. Then during maintenance, apply low-concentration organic fertilizer to it every 15-20 days to provide nutrition.
