Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of silver-edged spider plant

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of silver-edged spider plant

1. Too much light

Reason: It likes to stay in a semi-shaded environment and does not require much light. In the summer when the sun is strong, it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. Too strong light will cause the silver-edged spider plant to wither and turn yellow.

Solution: It needs to be placed in a semi-shaded place with sufficient diffuse light for maintenance. Ensure more than 4 hours of diffuse light every day as supplementary light. Avoid direct sunlight. When the light is too strong in summer, provide appropriate shade.

2. Not changing the soil for a long time

Reason: If the soil in the pot has not been changed for a long time or the planting soil itself is relatively poor, the nutrients needed by the plant will be insufficient, causing the leaves to slowly turn yellow.

Solution: The potting soil needs to be replaced in time with loose, well-drained, humus-rich soil to supplement the nutrients needed by the plant. In addition, elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium need to be supplemented regularly to allow the plants to grow better.

3. Excessive fertilization

Reason: If too much fertilizer is applied, it exceeds the plant's tolerance. At first, its leaves may become very shiny, but later the roots will begin to rot and the leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: Stop adding fertilizer immediately and water it more to dilute the fertilizer concentration in the soil. Or replace part of the potting soil and replant and maintain.
