How to prune jasmine after flowering

Pruning Jasmine After Flowering

Jasmine should be pruned before it sprouts in spring, and pruning is usually combined with leaf thinning, with diseased branches also pruned away at the same time.

1. After flowering, remove the remaining flowers in time and trim off the two pairs of leaves under the flowers.

2. Branches that grow too high or too long also need to be pruned appropriately. You can simply shorten them, retaining 1-2 nodes on the branches and cutting off the rest.

3. Diseased and weak branches should also be cut off.

4. After pruning, nutrients should be replenished in time, mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

Jasmine pruning and flowering

Find the jasmine flower receptacle that has already bloomed, and cut off two leaves from the receptacle. If you want the jasmine to bloom, remember to apply some potassium dihydrogen phosphate after pruning.

If you want jasmine to bloom well, you need to let it receive sufficient light and ensure that there is enough water, otherwise the flowering will be affected due to the soil being too dry.

In addition, when planting or repotting, choose a substrate that is breathable and easy to drain. Apply fertilizer appropriately at ordinary times, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and regularly prune branches that are too long or too dense.

How to care for jasmine after it blooms

1. Water to prevent the soil from being too dry, because when the pot is too dry or the weather is dry in summer, it will be difficult for new branches to sprout.

2. Liquid fertilizer containing a large amount of phosphorus should be applied frequently during the flowering period of jasmine from June to September, preferably once every 2-3 days.

3. It is best to repot and change the soil of potted jasmine once every 1-2 years, and the roots are generally not removed when repotting.
