Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of gladiolus

Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of gladiolus

1. The temperature is too low

Reason: Gladiolus likes to grow in a warm environment and cannot tolerate low temperatures. Once the temperature drops below 10°C, the plant will have problems. Its growth will slow down, causing the leaves to turn yellow and the leaf tips to become burnt.

Solution: You need to take measures to keep warm and maintain the growth environment above 10℃ to ensure that you can safely spend the winter.

2. Too much watering

Reason: It needs water support during its growth, but if watering is too frequent, water will accumulate at the roots, causing root rot, affecting the transport function and causing the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: You need to control watering at ordinary times. If you water too much, you need to stop watering and place it in a well-ventilated place to promote the evaporation of water. If the roots are rotten, you need to prune it.

3. Excessive fertilization

Reason: Applying too much fertilizer can cause root rot, which can lead to poor plant growth and partial yellowing of leaves.

Solution: If you find that you have applied too much fertilizer, stop fertilizing and water the plant to dilute the concentration of fertilizer.

4. Direct sunlight

Reason: It likes to grow in the light, but if it is exposed to strong sunlight in the summer, it will cause leaf burns, causing the leaves to turn yellow and wither.

Solution: Cut off the yellow leaves and place it in a cool place for shade.
