After a month, the outermost leaves began to soften and tended to melt. Maybe I watered it too much, and the soil was still damp when I touched it, so I simply turned it over to check the roots. Sure enough, the roots didn't look very healthy. Although they had grown a bit, they were rotten and fell off when touched.

This applies not only to soil and hydroponics, but also to the water level, which should be kept at a level that touches 1/3 of the roots. But gradually, the outermost circle of leaves closed and it seemed that it could not be saved...

What to do if the roots rot

Remove the Haworthia from the pot and cut off any rotten parts. After drying slightly, re-insert it into the sand bed and plant it in a pot after it takes root, or change the pot after it survives and starts to grow after being planted in the sand for a period of time.

Reduce watering. The roots of Haworthia are very sensitive, so it should not be planted too deep. Use well-drained soil. Poor drainage will cause root rot. Especially in winter, roots are prone to rot. Normally, just keep the soil slightly moist, but it's okay if it's slightly dry.
