Diseases and Pests of Digitalis and Their Control

Diseases of Digitalis

Stem rot

Stem rot is a common disease of Digitalis, which is mainly caused by fungi. When stem rot occurs in Digitalis, the leaves will become lighter in color, wet rot will occur, the nodes will become soft, and juice will flow out. When the disease is serious, the nodes of Digitalis will rot and gradually spread, causing the stem of the entire Digitalis plant to rot, the leaves to wilt and droop, and even the entire plant to die.

When stem rot occurs in digitalis, you can first use some safe methods to treat it, such as spreading lime powder or cutting off the infected parts. You can also use drugs for prevention and control, spray 400 times the solution of 25% carbendazim for treatment.

Mosaic disease, wilt

Mosaic disease and wilt are also common diseases of Digitalis. These diseases mainly cause lesions on Digitalis leaves, mosaic and wrinkled leaves, and wilt and wither of the plants, affecting the normal growth of Digitalis plants. When digitalis is suffering from diseases such as mosaic and wilt, the first thing to do is to remove the diseased plants to prevent the disease from spreading further, and then sprinkle some lime powder for disinfection and sterilization. Of course, digitalis can also be disinfected with carbendazim solution to prevent and control mosaic disease and wilt disease.

Pests of Digitalis

aphid

Aphids are a relatively common insect pest. When digitalis is infested with aphids, not only will the insects appear, but it may also cause mosaic disease. When aphids are found on digitalis, 2000 times diluted 40% oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate can be sprayed to kill the insects.

Cutworms and grubs

In addition to aphids, cutworms and white grubs are also common. Timely detection of pests, manual capture, or spraying of pesticides can reduce the damage caused by pests.
