Leek planting season and time

Leek generally refers to leeks. If it is propagated by sowing, it is usually done in March and April in spring. If it is transplanted, it can be done in June and July in summer, but the specific planting time still depends on the local climate.

There are many varieties of leek in my country. The more common ones are Zhucheng Dajingou, Shouguang Malinjiu, 791 leek, Hanzhong winter leek, etc. The planting time difference between different leek varieties is not very large, and they can all be planted in spring and summer.

Leek harvest season

After the vegetable leek is planted in the first year, it can be harvested 4-6 times in the second year, with a yield of about 3,500 kilograms per mu. It is usually available in large quantities around the Qingming Festival, but now fresh leeks can be purchased all year round.

Steps and methods of growing chives

1. Processing seeds

Before planting, soak the leek seeds in warm water to remove impurities, then take them out and wrap them in wet gauze, and place the gauze in an environment of 12-18℃ to germinate.

2. Land preparation and fertilization

Before sowing, the soil should be deeply plowed, and some organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer should be applied per acre of land, and then it can be raked and leveled.

3. Sowing and seedling raising

After preparing the ridges, water the ground first, then mix the seeds and sand and sow them. After sowing, cover the soil with a layer of straw and wait for the seeds to germinate.

4. Planting

When the leek seedlings grow 7-8 leaves, they are transplanted. First, the roots need to be pruned, which can promote root growth and reduce water evaporation.
