Disease control of bitter melon

Disease control of bitter melon

anthrax

Anthracnose is a fungal disease that usually occurs during the period from seedling emergence to growth, especially in the hot and rainy summer. Specific prevention and control measures are as follows. First of all, when selecting seeds, you must choose from disease-free fruits, and it is best to soak the seeds in warm water at 52 to 56 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Sterilizing the seeds can effectively prevent bacteria from being present in the seeds. The best planting site is in high ridges and deep ditches with good drainage, ventilation and light transmission. During the young fruit stage of bitter melon and when the temperature is high and rainy, spraying is necessary for protection. Spray 500 to 600 times the solution of 50% carbendazim about once every 7 to 10 days.

powdery mildew

Powdery mildew is also a fungal disease that mainly manifests itself on leaves and stems. The specific prevention and control method is that it is best to rotate crops during planting, but it cannot be planted continuously with cucurbits and vegetables. Add nitrogen fertilizer in moderation and avoid using too much. On rainy days, we must ensure good drainage, prune branches and leaves in time, and maintain good ventilation. If the disease occurs, spray 50% colloidal sulfur at a concentration of 100 to 500 times diluted immediately.

Fusarium Wilt

This disease mainly occurs at the nodes of the main vine. The main solution is to turn the soil over and dry it for 3 to 5 days when preparing the land, try to make the soil white and weathered, and then apply 50 to 75 kilograms of lime. Pay attention to waterlogging and use high ridges and deep trenches to prevent waterlogging. Prune stems and leaves regularly to allow better ventilation and prevent the spread of germs. Once the disease is found, the diseased plants should be pulled out immediately and sprayed with 500 to 800 times diluted 75% thiophanate-methyl. It is best to spray the medicine on the lower half of the plant for better results.
