Common diseases

Rust: The rust of licorice appears on the back of the leaves. Spots will appear and are yellow-brown in color. If the spots are broken, brown powder will fall out. The powder also contains pathogens. Rust can form from August to September every year.

Prevention and control methods: If the disease is found in the early stage, you can use Baume lime sulfur or rust-resistant steel liquid for spraying. In serious cases, the diseased licorice and other surrounding plants should be burned together.

Brown spot disease: The disease of licorice manifests itself on the leaves. Spots of various shapes will appear on the leaves. The middle part of the spot is gray-brown and the surrounding area is brown.

Prevention and control methods: If the disease is discovered in the early stage, Bordeaux or methyl tolbutril powder can be used for spraying. In serious cases, the diseased licorice and other surrounding plants should be burned together.

Powdery mildew: Powdery mildew causes white powder to form on both sides of hay leaves.

Prevention and control methods: You can use Baume lime sulfur agent for spraying.

Common pests

Aphids: Aphids survive by sucking the sap of plants. If the infestation is severe, it can cause the plants to turn yellow.

Prevention and control methods: You can use carbofuran liquid, dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate or chlorpyrifos emulsifiable concentrate for spraying, spray once every 7 to 10 days, and can spray continuously depending on the situation.

Red spider mites: Red spider mites usually occur in August and become more serious in September. It mainly survives by eating leaves and flowers of plants.

Prevention and control methods: You can use the leftover noodle soup or rice soup mixed with Baume lime sulfur mixture and spray it.
