What to do if the creeping grass grows too tall

What to do if the creeping grass grows too tall

Causes of Lean Growth

Insufficient light

During the growing seasons of spring, summer and autumn, creeping grass can be maintained with diffuse light. Although it is necessary to avoid direct sunlight, it cannot always be placed in the shade, otherwise it will easily grow too tall. And if the photosynthesis is not strong, the leaves will turn white, yellow, or even become wrinkled.

Due to insufficient light, the branches of the creeping grass grow very thin, and it is heartbreaking to see them blown by the wind, just like Lin Daiyu, a weak willow swaying in the wind.

Excessive water

Creeping grass is a water-loving plant, and the soil in the pot should be kept moist during daily maintenance. However, if water accumulates in the pot soil for a long time, it will easily cause the plant to grow too tall. Especially during the rainy season in the Pearl River Delta, if the outdoor creeping grass is not removed in time, the plant will tend to grow wildly but will not be strong.

Too much nitrogen fertilizer

Nitrogen fertilizer is the most effective in promoting plant growth, but if excessive fertilizer is applied, it will easily cause the creeping grass to grow too tall.

How to solve it

Light and moisture treatment

If the creeping grass starts to grow too tall, move it out of a cool and shady place and expose it to the sun to carry out photosynthesis and inhibit its growth.

This is not enough. You need to cut off the water at this time. Although the creeping grass needs water during the growth period, it is already skinny, so don't intensify its crazy growth momentum. It is not too late to resume normal watering after the plant's excessive growth is under control.

Cutting and grafting

The branches of the creeping grass will grow a lot, but the branches are very thin, and the leaves are sparsely arranged, which is not beautiful. At this time, the best way is to cut it off, graft it, and then maintain it again. After beheading, the mother plant may be able to grow into another pot, killing two birds with one stone.

Chlormequat

If the water, fertilizer and light management are all suitable and flower lovers do not want to cut off the heads or do cuttings, they can buy dwarfing agent and apply it to the creeping grass. After slowly suppressing the excessive growth, although the plant will not be as beautiful as in normal state, it can recover to about 80% or 90%.
