How to sow peony seeds

How to sow peony seeds

1. Choose a container

It may grow taller, reaching about two meters. Therefore, we have to choose a larger container, but it does not need to be very large at the beginning, because we may need to repot during the maintenance period. Another thing to pay attention to is the drainage of the pot. Do not use a pot with particularly poor drainage.

2. Seed collection and processing

The time for seed collection is generally in early August. After collecting, keep it in a cool place indoors, away from the sun, otherwise the seeds will not germinate easily. Before sowing, in order to break its dormancy, you need to soak it in warm water at about 50 degrees.

3. Time selection

The time interval between collection and sowing should not be too long. Sowing should be done immediately after collection and processing, and at the latest before October.

4. Sowing

First, disinfect the prepared soil and mix in some base fertilizer, so that the survival rate of the seeds will be higher. Once you have prepared the soil, place it in the container and then sprinkle in the seeds.

5. Post-management

First of all, in order to prevent excessive evaporation of soil moisture and to block excessive sunlight, we can cover some plastic film. In addition, do not water too much, otherwise the soil will become compacted. If the sowing time is relatively late, that is, the temperature is quite low, appropriate cold-proof measures must be taken, such as covering with some straw, leaves, etc.
