What to do if the winter jasmine does not bloom

What to do if the winter jasmine does not bloom

Flowering period of jasmine

Forsythia blooms relatively early, and its flowering period is in early spring, from February to April. Forsythia is a plant that blooms first and then grows leaves. When it blooms, the branches are full of yellow flowers with a blush, and the flowers also emit a fragrance. Whenever the forsythia blooms, people know that spring is coming.

However, sometimes the winter jasmine does not bloom. What is the reason?

Reasons why jasmine does not bloom

Lack of pruning

The reason why forsythia does not bloom may be lack of pruning.

Generally, after the forsythia blooms, the branches become old and will generally not bloom again. If you want the forsythia to bloom again, you need to prune them in time. Cutting off the old branches that have bloomed will allow new branches to sprout and then bloom.

It should be noted that after flowering in early spring, the forsythia plants should be pruned, dense branches, dead branches and diseased branches should be cut off, and the overgrown branches should be shortened to enable them to grow better.

Insufficient light or water

Insufficient light or water and fertilizer will result in the winter jasmine not having sufficient nutrients, and naturally it will not have enough nutrients to bloom.

Note that in winter, the forsythia should be placed in a sunny place for cultivation. If cultivated indoors, it can be placed on a south-facing balcony with sufficient light.

As for water and fertilizer, there should be sufficient water and fertilizer throughout the growth period. During the growth period, fertilizer should be applied about once every half a month, mainly with thin fertilizers. Before flowering, you need to apply a thin layer of organic fertilizer to make the flowers larger and more colorful and prolong the flowering period. Watering should also be sufficient to meet the growth needs of forsythia, but be careful to water in moderation and not too much.
