When is ginger harvested?

When is ginger harvested?

Ginger is a common ingredient in daily life. Many people like to use ginger to enhance the flavor of their dishes. In addition to its edible value, it is also rich in nutrients and can be used as medicine, which also highlights its economic superiority. Coupled with stable market demand, its planting prospects are very promising.

Ginger ripe

Ginger requires a relatively high temperature to germinate, so it is sown relatively late, usually in late April to early May. In the southern regions with high temperatures, it can be sown in March, and it matures in September-October.

Ginger harvest

The harvesting of ginger is divided into the harvesting of young ginger, the harvesting of old ginger and the harvesting of seed ginger. Young ginger is usually harvested in mid-to-late August, and old ginger is usually harvested in late October to early November. When the seed ginger has 5-6 leaves, take out the seed ginger in the opposite direction of the root growth and then cover it with soil.

Ginger Origin and Production

Ginger is native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia and is currently grown in most parts of my country. It is mainly produced in Sichuan, Guangdong, Shandong, Fujian, Henan and Shaanxi. The yield per acre can generally reach 6,000 to 8,000 jin. Ginger is a stable-yield crop, and the annual yield per acre is not much different.
