What to do if the lotus leaves wither

What to do if the lotus leaves wither

1. Improper fertilization

1. Too much fertilizer

If the amount of fertilizer is too much, it may damage the roots, causing them to die and weaken their ability to absorb nutrients. The entire plant will look listless, its growth will slow down, and its leaves will wither.

Solution: If this is the case, it is recommended to dig it out and start planting again, change a new pot of clean soil, do not add fertilizer, and spray the leaves with more water. After digging it out, you can check the condition of the roots. If it is black, very short or has no roots, it means the judgment is correct.

2. Lack of fertilizer

If there is too little fertilizer, the color of the leaves will fade. This usually happens in the later stages of its growth or the growth period. If there is a lack of nitrogen, the old leaves will appear to be withered, the new leaves will become smaller, and the petioles will become weak.

Solution: Add some nitrogen-rich fertilizer, not too much at one time, you can increase the frequency.

2. Alkaline soil

If the soil is alkaline, it will affect the roots' absorption of some rare elements. The leaves will not have extra nutrients to absorb and will wither.

Treatment method: You can add some ferrous sulfate, which can change the pH value of the soil and supplement iron.

3. Environmental discomfort

1. Insufficient light

If it is not allowed to receive the sunlight it needs, it will affect the production of chlorophyll, so the leaves will wither.

2. Cold

If it is winter, it is too cold or the temperature difference is too great, which will cause the leaves to wither.

3. Diseases

If diseased, the leaves will develop yellow spots, then turn brown and die.

Treatment method: It is a green plant that likes warmth. Receiving light all year round is good for its growth. Put it in a place with light and wind, and don't let it stay in a cold area all the time. In winter, you should put it indoors and create a suitable environment for it. If there is a disease, you should buy special medicine and spray it on the leaves. Don't make it too concentrated and you can spray it several times. It is aquatic and cannot leave water, so make sure there is enough water. It lives in latitudes with higher temperatures, so don't keep it too cold to help it survive the winter safely.
