Reasons why ivy does not bloom

Reasons why ivy does not bloom

1. Flowers

First, let’s talk about what its flowers look like. Generally speaking, it has at least five flowers and at most forty. The calyx grows densely and is relatively short. The color is usually light yellow or light green. The flowering period is relatively long, lasting two months, and it usually blooms in September and November.

2. Temperature

The reason why it does not bloom is largely because we do not take good care of it. In terms of temperature, we have to give it what it needs, generally between 20 and 25 degrees. It is afraid of heat and cannot withstand cold well, so we have to pay attention to adjust it when placing it in the room. In winter, if conditions are limited, the temperature should at least be above 5 degrees, and above 10 degrees is better. Temperature is very important to it, and it will only open normally when it meets the requirements.

3. Moisture

It has very strict requirements on water, and without water it will easily affect its flowering. Watering should be controlled so that the soil is slightly moist. In summer, we need to water more. In addition, we must be careful not to water too much, otherwise the leaves will easily fall off. In winter, we also have requirements for the amount of water we use, and we have to make sure it is consistent with the room temperature. We can also ensure good air humidity at normal times, so that its leaves will grow well and the flowers will bloom naturally.

4. Lighting

Because it prefers light, we still have to give it plenty of light. Of course, we need to pay attention to the fact that we have to shade it from the sun moderately in the summer, because too strong light can easily cause it to get sick, and the chances of it dying are relatively high, not to mention that it will not be able to grow flowers. In winter, we can place it outside the house to receive sunlight, because the light is not scorching during this period of time. Only by giving it sufficient light can its nutrients not be depleted and flowers can grow.

5. Fertilization

Fertilizer is an important step in supplementing nutrients. There is no need to apply fertilizer in summer and winter, but you can still apply fertilizer when it grows faster. Only in this way can it encourage it to grow flowers.
