What to do if the leaves of Christmas cactus wilt

What to do if the leaves of Christmas cactus wilt

1. Proper watering

Reason: If you water the plant too much during daily maintenance, causing excess water to accumulate in the pot, the roots will rot and the leaves will wilt. On the contrary, if the amount of water is too little, the plant will be in a state of water shortage for a long time and the leaves will wilt.

Solution: If water accumulates in the potting soil, it should be drained out in time, or the soil should be loosened appropriately and placed in a ventilated place for maintenance. If there is insufficient water, water more appropriately and increase the amount of watering at normal times.

2. Reduce light

Reason: If Christmas cactus is exposed to strong direct sunlight for a long time, its leaves will become soft and wilted. In severe cases, it may wither or even die.

Solution: Place it in a cool place for maintenance, and give it sufficient scattered light after the leaves recover. When the sun is scorching in summer, shade should be provided.

3. Pruning the root system

Reason: If the roots of Christmas cactus rot, the leaves will wilt because they cannot absorb nutrients. If no measures are taken, the stems and leaves will rot and the entire plant may die.

Solution: Carefully remove the plant from the potting soil, cut off the rotten roots, and let the wounds dry before replanting it.

4. Normal maintenance

Reason: When Christmas cactus enters dormancy, its growth will become very slow and it will be difficult for the roots to absorb water and nutrients, so the leaves will wilt.

Solution: Reduce watering during the dormant period and do not fertilize it. You can spray it with water frequently to increase the humidity of the breeding environment.
