Why does the tip of the lotus bud turn black when water comes out?

Why does the tip of the lotus bud turn black when water comes out?

1. The temperature is too low

Reason: Bowl lotus is not suitable for growing in low temperature environment, which will cause frostbite of the plant and blackening of the bud tip.

Solution: Place the water lily in a warm place indoors. Since the plants are planted in water, water temperature is also particularly critical. Do not use cold water when watering. Tap water needs to be air-dried for a few days until the temperature is close to room temperature before use.

2. Too much light

Reason: Bowl lotus cannot be exposed to strong sunlight, otherwise it will lead to poor growth and cause the bud tips to turn black.

Solution: Place the water lily in a cool and ventilated place to allow it to recover slowly, and then move it to a sunny place after recovery. The lighting time should not be too long. In addition to sunburning the plants, it will also increase the water temperature and inhibit its growth.

3. Poor water quality

Reason: As an aquatic plant, bowl lotus has very high requirements for water quality. Poor water quality will cause the tips of its buds to turn black.

Solution: Change the water for the water lily in time. Generally, river water or rain water is used. If it is tap water, it needs to be left to stand for a while until the chlorine evaporates before use. The water should also be deeper so that the plants have sufficient moisture before sprouting.

4. Planting too early

Reason: If the seeds are planted before they have grown roots, the tips of the buds may easily turn black.

Solution: Be sure to allow the seeds to fully develop when planting. Wait until the seeds have grown roots and the first leaves have unfolded before transplanting. If lotus roots are used for planting, this kind of problem can also be avoided.
