How to grow lettuce on the balcony

It seems simple to open a small vegetable garden on the balcony, but it requires a lot of preparation work. For example, soil, foam boxes, tools and shovels, and most importantly, seeds. The most difficult thing to prepare is probably the soil. If you can't find usable soil outside, you can buy garden soil at the flower market or online store.

Seeding environment

First, place the foam box in a suitable position on the balcony, where it should receive sunlight but not take up too much balcony space. Remember to drill several drainage and ventilation holes on the bottom of the box. Secondly, mix the soil collected from outside and spread it flat in a foam box, half a box is enough.

Seeding process

After the environment is arranged, sprinkle the lettuce seeds on the soil surface. Remember to spread them evenly. If you feel that the seeds are too small to be scattered, you can mix them with some fine soil before proceeding. This will make it easier to spread. After spreading, cover with a thin layer of fine soil.

Watering management

Lettuce is a very simple vegetable to grow and does not require too much effort to manage. Except for watering on the day of sowing, you can water the seeds in moderation at other times.

Finally, water the plants in time during the germination period and do a good job of disease and pest control. Then you just need to wait quietly for a while, and a foam box of lettuce will be waiting for you to harvest.
