How to cultivate kapok bonsai

How to cultivate kapok bonsai

Reproduction method:

You can choose to plant by cuttings, division or sowing. The best time for sowing is from May to mid-June, and the seedlings can be transplanted when they grow to 50 cm. Cuttings and divisions should also be done at the same time, but all old leaves and branches should be trimmed off during cuttings to increase the survival rate.

Maintenance and management:

When the seedlings grow to about 30 cm, you can apply fertilizer once; after planting, you should water them thoroughly and then place them in a semi-shaded place for cultivation; if the base fertilizer is sufficient and the soil is fertile, you can apply fertilizer at a slightly longer interval, about 40 days; otherwise, the interval will need to be shorter, about 20 days.

Clean up weeds in time:

If you find weeds growing, clean them up in time to prevent the weeds from absorbing their nutrients, which will cause the kapok tree to lack nutrients.

prune:

When it grows to a certain height, you can prune it to stop it from growing any higher, and you can also cut off the weak and withered branches and leaves in winter.

Note:

Because it is a large tree, it is recommended to plant only one tree in a flowerpot.

It does not have too high requirements for fertilizer. It only needs to be fertilized before and after the flowering period and during the seedling growth stage. Fertilization can be suspended at other times.

When planting it at home, you can pick the blooming flowers during its flowering period, dry them and store them, or you can dry them naturally in the sun. Its flowers have a strong fragrance and bright colors, and can be placed anywhere.
