How to hydroponically cultivate and maintain Chinese evergreen

Time for hydroponic cultivation of Chinese evergreen

The hydroponic culture of Chinese evergreen requires a certain amount of adaptation time, which is usually carried out in spring from April to May. After hydroponics, it is placed in a cool place to slow down the growth of the seedlings, and it will adapt to normal growth after a week.

Hydroponic method of Chinese evergreen

Many flower lovers would say, isn’t hydroponics just pulling the plants out of the soil with their roots, washing the soil clean, and growing them in water? Then you are wrong. Hydroponics is so simple, why are there so many plants grown in soil? Hydroponics focuses on details:

Select soil-grown plants with good plant shape. After removing them from the pots, clean the soil around the roots and then cut off old roots and dead leaves.

Soak the roots of the plant, note the roots, in 0.05% potassium permanganate solution for 10 minutes.

To facilitate the fixing of the plants, a small amount of colored stones or expanded clay can be placed in the hydroponic container to fix the roots.

After placing the plant into the hydroponic container, add water to cover 1/2-2/3 of the roots. It is best not to let the leaves get soaked in water during this process.

Maintenance method of hydroponic bean curd

When you first start hydroponics, change the water once a day, clean the sticky substances produced by the roots, and then replace it with clean water. New roots will grow in about 10 days. After the roots grow, change the water every 2 to 3 days. The water used for growing Chinese evergreen is usually tap water, and well water is generally not used.

Compared with other hydroponic plants, Chinese evergreen requires fewer nutrients and basically does not need fertilizer. Excessive fertilizer in the water can easily cause the growth of water microorganisms, which is not conducive to plant growth. So change the water on time to ensure there is enough oxygen in the water.

The fleshy leaves of Chinese evergreen do not require much light, and maintenance becomes even easier after it grows new roots. Ensure good ventilation, spray some water on the leaves when the air is dry, and avoid cold wind in winter.
