How to propagate Deutzia parviflora by cuttings

How to propagate Deutzia parviflora by cuttings

1. Seedling preparation:

First, make a good seedling bed. The length depends on the specific situation. The reference values of width and height are one meter and fifty centimeters. Drainage holes need to be set at intervals of 0.5 meters. Then lay a layer of bricks on the bottom to facilitate drainage; lay the substrate on top and choose coarse river sand. Finally, the substrate should be sprayed and disinfected with a gray manganese oxide solution at a concentration of 2/1000. After half an hour, rinse the substrate with clean water until clean water flows out of the drainage hole.

2. Cutting selection and processing:

In early July, select one-year-old semi-lignified branches with short bud spacing for cuttings. Brown-green color is preferred and they have good flexibility. Measures should be taken to avoid water loss during transportation. Cut the branches to twelve centimeters to make cuttings, with a flat incision on the top and a horse ear shape on the bottom. Usually twenty of them are bundled together and then immersed in a rooting agent solution with a concentration of 500 mg per liter. They need to be soaked for twelve hours in preparation for cuttings.

3. Cutting:

When taking cuttings, the reference spacing between rows and plants is three centimeters by four centimeters, and approximately eight hundred and thirty cuttings can be taken per square meter. When cuttings, they should be squeezed tightly, and the depth should be about three centimeters so that they will not fall over. After insertion, water them thoroughly in time. Then build a plastic shed. It is best to put a shade net on the arch to block the sun and avoid exposure, but the weak light around 7 in the morning and after 6 in the evening should not be visible.

4. Post-insertion management:

The key to this link is temperature and humidity control. After cuttings are grafted and before roots take shape, the spray interval and spray amount should be controlled to see whether the water droplets on the leaves can be maintained; depending on the specific situation, water should be passed twice a day to ensure that the humidity is not less than 80%. Normally, some roots will appear after fourteen days, and ninety percent of the cuttings will take root after twenty days. Fertilization should be applied half a month after rooting, and the medicine prepared according to a special formula should be sprayed once every ten days. After the weather gets cold, you need to protect the plants from the cold, and then you can transplant, plant and cultivate them in early spring of the next year.
