Cultivation methods and precautions of blue snowflakes

Blue snow flower is a very beautiful flower . Its flowers are a striking blue color. It is a very popular ornamental plant. It grows fast, blooms in large quantities, and can bloom easily. Let’s talk about the cultivation methods and precautions of blue snow flower.

1. Soil

The soil for planting blue snow flowers should be loose and breathable without water accumulation. Generally, use one part garden soil, one part coarse sand, and one part leaf mold or coarse coconut coir, mix them evenly for cultivation. Choose a larger pot for planting blue snow flowers, with a diameter of about 30 cm and a height of more than 35 cm. The larger the pot, the better, because blue snow flowers grow particularly fast.

2. Sunlight

Blue snow flower is a light-loving plant. It will bloom more frequently if given sufficient sunlight. However, it needs to be shaded from the overly strong sunlight in summer. Only scattered light will be enough. If the blue snow flower is placed in a too dark place, it will not only be prone to powdery mildew, but also the branches will grow too long and it will be difficult to bloom.

3. Watering

Blue snow flower plants are afraid of both drought and waterlogging. If the soil is too dry, the blue snow flower plants will shrive, and if the soil is too waterlogged, the roots will rot. The principle of watering blue snow flower plants is that if the leaves droop, they must be watered thoroughly. In winter, all the leaves of the blue snow flower have fallen, so you need to water less and try to keep the soil slightly moist. Too much humidity and too low temperature will freeze the plant to death, and too dry temperature will dry out the branches.

4. Fertilization

The blue snow flower blooms continuously and grows rapidly, so it requires a particularly large amount of fertilizer. When the blue snow flower just sprouts in the spring, you should apply more nitrogen fertilizer or decomposed organic fertilizer . If it enters the flowering period, you should apply compound fertilizer . Apply fertilizer every ten days or so, or apply thin fertilizer frequently. You can put a few small compound fertilizers in the water each time you water. Don't fertilize if the blue snow flower is not blooming.

5. Reproduction

The main method of propagation of blue snow flower is cuttings. Blue snow flower cuttings can be carried out in spring, summer and autumn, but the highest survival rate of blue snow flower cuttings is in the rainy season in June and July. Just select healthy branches, cut about ten centimeters, and plant them in the soil casually, and they will survive. If there is proper shade, the survival rate will be higher. After the blue snow flower has reproduced and survived, wait until September to transplant it. It cannot be transplanted in summer as the plant may be easily sunburned and killed.

6. Pest and disease control

Blue snow flower is prone to powdery mildew. When the disease is rampant, spray 20% tetrafluoropyraclostrobin, 1000 times diluted 15% triadimefon, 200 times diluted 2% antimycotic aqueous solution, and 1000 to 1500 times diluted 10% polyoxin. Repeated use of traditional medicines will cause the bacteria to produce antibodies, which will greatly reduce their effectiveness, so alternating use is recommended. Alternatively, you can also use 1000 times diluted white wine (35% alcohol content), spray it once every 3 to 6 days, spray 3 to 6 times continuously, and rinse the leaves until there is no white powder. Blue snow flower is also prone to aphids, which are usually controlled by spraying imidacloprid according to the instructions.
