How to take care of the newly bought bird's nest

1. How to take care of the newly bought bird's nest

After buying the Crassula ovata, the first thing to do is to choose a suitable potting soil environment for it. It likes to grow in loose, fertile, well-drained and breathable sandy soil. You can evenly mix 2 parts of leaf mold and 1 part of garden soil, and add some river sand as a substrate.

2. Specific breeding methods

1. Light: It likes light, so avoid direct sunlight in summer and move it to a sunny place in the shed in winter. When you first buy it, since it has not yet adapted to the new environment, you need to place it in a place with soft light for care. After it slowly resumes normal growth, you can gradually give it sufficient light. It should be noted that shade should be provided in summer to prevent the plants from being burned by direct sunlight.

2. Temperature: It likes a warm environment. The most suitable growth temperature is 15℃-25℃, and it should be kept above 7℃ in winter. When you first buy it, in order to reduce the stimulation of the external environment, you can place it in an environment with a temperature of about 23°C for maintenance. It should not be kept in a low temperature environment for a long time. When the temperature is below 5℃, frost damage is likely to occur. It is best to keep it indoors during the winter.

3. Watering: When you first buy it, it has not yet started to grow normally, so you need to control watering. In spring and autumn, you can water the plants every 1-2 days to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. When the temperature reaches above 30℃ in summer, the plant is in a semi-dormant and dormant state, so watering must be controlled. You can spray some water around it and also pay attention to ventilation.

4. Fertilization: No fertilizer is needed when it is first purchased. After it resumes growth, you can apply liquid fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium to those that grow weakly. Apply a thin liquid fertilizer once a month. If the growth is good, no fertilizer is needed.
