When does Clivia bloom? What is the meaning of Clivia?

When does Clivia bloom? What is the meaning of Clivia?

1. Flowering time

Clivia usually blooms in spring and summer, but if it is properly cared for, it can bloom all year round. It should be noted that the new plant must grow more than twelve leaves before it can bloom. It basically only opens once a year, sometimes it opens twice, and it is very rare to open three times.

2. Flower Language Introduction

The flower language of Clivia is nobility and gentlemanly demeanor. The reason why it has the meaning of noble is that the Latin name of this plant means rich and noble. In addition, its name contains the word "gentleman", and it is called orchid, which is also known as the gentleman among flowers, so naturally it has the demeanor of a gentleman.

3. How to promote flowering

1. Control the temperature: The flowering of Clivia has a lot to do with temperature. The plant is not easy to bloom in the high temperature season, but is in a semi-dormant state, and the phenomenon of arrow pinching may also occur. Therefore, the temperature should be controlled below 25℃, preferably not higher than 20℃. In addition, you must ensure that the temperature difference between day and night is above 10℃. You can place it on the south balcony during the day and on the north balcony at night.

2. Appropriate fertilization: Clivia still needs appropriate fertilizer to grow. If the soil fertility is insufficient, the plant will not have enough nutrients to bloom. The simplest flower-promoting fertilizer is beer. It usually needs to be opened and left for a while, then diluted with clean water and poured into the soil. You can also choose to apply phosphorus fertilizer, the effect is the same. In addition, placing it in a sunny place will allow it to carry out photosynthesis better, which is also beneficial to the synthesis of nutrients.
