The benefits of wood chips for growing flowers: light, water-absorbent and breathable

Sawdust is a cheap soilless cultivation medium that is light, absorbent and breathable, and is very useful for growing flowers. Newly transplanted flowers and trees, especially flower seedlings that are sent by mail, lose water severely and wilt due to the long journey by the mail. If the seedlings are planted in nutrient soil with a high fertilizer content at this time, the seedlings will be burned to death. If they are planted in pots with soil without fertilizer, the soil will become hardened and airtight after watering, and the new seedlings will suffocate to death.

For example, if you add sawdust to an appropriate amount of nutrient soil and mix it with new seedlings, the sawdust will be loose, breathable, heat-insulating and moisturizing. After a period of time, new roots will grow from the old roots of the new seedlings, bringing the seedlings back to life and restoring vitality.

How to use sawdust to grow flowers

Take fresh sawdust and put it into a plastic bag; then add an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer, or even better, chicken or rabbit manure; add enough water, preferably rice water. Cover or seal the bag and place it in a higher temperature place. It will ferment and rot after 1 to 2 months, and allow it to ferment until it turns dark brown.

Then let it dry until half dry and mix it with half soil. Using it as potting soil to cultivate flowers and trees can make them grow lush branches and leaves, with bright and fragrant flowers; using it as nutrient soil for growing flower seedlings has the wonderful function of promoting the healthy growth of the seedlings.

When repotting potted flowers and trees, mix sawdust with 1/3 fine coal slag, and then add some dry manure (flower fertilizer bought from a flower shop is better), which can be used as nutrient soil for potted flowers. The roots of seedlings that are damaged when repotting can recover quickly, and the root system can easily absorb nutrients in the sawdust, so the flowers and trees can grow rapidly after repotting.

For potted flowers that are being grown, you can also loosen the soil with tools when it is half dry, then put the mixed sawdust and some dry fertilizer on the surface of the soil, and then water it enough. After a week, gently turn over the sawdust and soil to gradually mix them together. After that, you will find that the potted flowers are becoming more and more luxuriant.
