How to grow roses without soil

Matrix

The substrate for soilless cultivation of roses is composed of perlite and granite pebbles. The substrate is about thirty centimeters thick, with pebbles at the bottom and perlite and pebbles alternately filled at the top. The pH value is between six and seven.

variety

The rose variety chosen for soilless cultivation is the Dutch variety Salmon Sand, which is very popular because of its beautiful shape, high yield and good quality.

Summer and wintering measures

In order to keep cool in the summer, a shade cloth is usually placed on the top of the greenhouse, and water is often sprayed inside the greenhouse. In order to keep warm in winter, plastic film and gauze are usually covered around the greenhouse to increase the temperature and promote growth.

Nutrient solution management

Nutrient solution formula

The most suitable nutrient solution formula for soilless cultivation of roses is 53ppm sodium, 51ppm phosphorus, 378ppm potassium, 162ppm calcium, 34ppm magnesium, the pH value is between 5.5-6.5, and the total concentration is 0.23%.

Construction of nutrient pools

Soilless cultivation of roses requires the construction of two nutrient pools, one containing calcium nitrate and the other containing other elements. Both are built outside the shed, have the same volume, and open at the same time.

Application of nutrient solution

Apply less in the early growth stage, once every other day or longer. When it comes to the production period, increase the liquid supply, once a day when there is sufficient sunshine, and reduce it appropriately in rainy weather.

Moisture Management

In summer, water frequently but sparingly to avoid diluting the nutrient solution. In winter, water should be sprayed after the temperature rises above 30 degrees, otherwise it is not necessary.
