Factors Affecting Peony Flowering

Factors Affecting Peony Flowering

temperature

Even in the same area, the temperature varies. Spring is the season when peonies bloom most vigorously, and it is also the season when the temperature changes greatly. The temperature between warm spring and cold spring can differ greatly, so the flowering period can also differ by four to five days. When the temperature changes greatly, it is possible for the flowering period to differ by about 20 days.

Moisture

Water is also a major factor affecting the flowering of peony. Peony likes moisture, and insufficient water will delay flowering, but it is afraid of waterlogging, and excessive water will also cause it to not bloom.

Rainfall

If there is appropriate rainfall before flowering, the peony flowers will bloom very beautifully, with large flowers and bright colors. However, if there is too much rainfall, the peony flowering period will be shortened, the flower color will not be bright, or even no flowers will bloom.

Altitude

The effect of altitude on peony flowering is mainly manifested through differences in temperature and humidity. The temperature and humidity of the air will be different at different altitudes, so the flowering period and the beauty of the flowers will also be different.

illumination

Almost all plants cannot grow without light, and the same is true for natural peonies. Peonies like sunshine and grow in places with plenty of sunlight. The flowers they bloom are much brighter and more beautiful than those in the shade.

Planting season

If planted in spring, it will generally not bloom in the same year because the injured fleshy roots cannot recover immediately; for peonies planted in autumn, the injured fleshy roots have enough time to heal, and they will generally bloom in the following spring.
