illumination

Avocado likes light, and a high temperature and high humidity environment can make it grow rapidly, but it cannot tolerate severe cold. It can grow in partial shade, but does best in a location with full sun.

soil

Avocado trees are highly adaptable to soil and prefer to grow in well-drained soil.

Watering

Avocado trees are very sensitive to soil drought. Lack of water will cause leaves and fruits to fall off. The soil around the roots needs to be kept moist throughout the year. Watering should be sufficient but avoid excessive watering. When the soil is too wet, it will aggravate root rot. You can use sprinkler irrigation or drip irrigation, and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season.

Fertilization

Avocados should be fertilized properly within 1-4 years after planting to promote rapid growth of young trees. The type and amount of fertilizer to be applied should be determined based on the soil fertility, tree age, plant growth and fruiting conditions.

During the young tree stage, the root system is easily damaged by nitrogen fertilizer. Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer will cause the branches and leaves to grow too long and delay the fruiting period. In the autumn and winter seasons, stop applying nitrogen fertilizer and apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to avoid winter shoot damage in areas with frost.
