How to breed delphinium

How to breed delphinium

Seed propagation of delphinium

For seed propagation of delphinium, seeds are generally collected starting in September and then sown in March of the following year.

First sow the seeds in the open-field seedbed. You can use the low-temperature sand storage method to treat the seeds. Wait until the seedlings have 4 true leaves before transplanting them. After that, you can plant them. Note that before planting, apply enough base fertilizer.

If you need to apply top dressing, use nitrogen fertilizer mainly. Also pay attention to regular pruning according to the growth trend, which is conducive to the rapid growth of the plant.

Propagation of Delphinium by division

Delphinium can be propagated by division in spring and autumn.

First, you need to choose a mother plant with vigorous growth for division.

Secondly, you can use tools to carefully cut the roots of the delphinium into several sub-plants, and then transplant them directly into flower pots or fields.

Finally, for maintenance after transplantation, just water it and provide shade.

Cutting propagation of Delphinium

For delphinium propagation by cuttings, when the new buds grow to a certain length in spring, you can choose strong branches and leaves for cutting, and be sure to leave 3 leaves when cutting.

Then plant the cut cuttings on the seedbed, wait for them to take root, and then transplant them into the flowerpots.

After planting, you can maintain it normally. It only needs sufficient light and appropriate shade, and watering with the right amount, and it can grow healthily.

These are the methods for breeding delphiniums. You can choose a suitable breeding method based on your personal preferences or the environment at home to breed your delphiniums. I wish you success.
