Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of pitcher plants

1. Improper watering

Reason: Control the amount of water for the pitcher plant. If you water too frequently and there is too much water in the potting soil, the newly grown leaves will turn yellow. If there is insufficient water, it will lead to water shortage and the old leaves will show signs of drought and yellowing.

Measures: When there is too much water, if it is not serious, stop watering and drain immediately. If it causes root rot, you need to remove the plant from the pot, cut it off, then change the soil and pot and replant it. If there is too little water, water it in time and replenish water gradually.

2. Fertilization issues

Reason: The amount of fertilizer required for the growth of pitcher plants is limited. If fertilizer is applied too frequently and exceeds its growth needs, its leaves will become somewhat burnt yellow. However, if no fertilizer is applied for a long time or there is not enough fertilizer, the leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: If the cause is fertilizer damage, dilute the fertility in the potting soil by watering in time, or remove the plant from the pot to rinse the roots, then change the soil and replant. Pay attention to fertilizer control in subsequent maintenance. If it is due to insufficient fertilization, it will be necessary to add fertilizer in small amounts multiple times.

3. Iron deficiency

Reason: Nepenthes requires a certain amount of iron to grow. If iron is not supplemented, the yellowing of the leaves will become obvious.

Measures: You can spray a water solution containing ferrous sulfate. After spraying three or four times, the yellow leaves will improve.

4. Too much light

Reason: Domestic pitcher plants are not suitable for being grown in places with too strong light. When the light is strong in the summer, yellow leaves will appear due to exposure to the sun.

Measures: It needs to be moved to a place with scattered light or kept indoors. Nepenthes can only receive full sunlight in winter, early spring and late autumn.
